lsass.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x7c914d1a referenced memory at 0x080cf984. The memory could not be "read".

This is an error reported by Microsoft Windows XP. After an exaustive search on the web for an answer and many suggestions that it could be the Sasser virus, I discovered it was a corrupt user profile.

This was easily corrected with a Windows XP Installation CD and Recovery Console. I repaired the Windows installation, then made a backup of the \windows folder\system32\config files and recoved the latest know restore point from "System Volume Information" folder.
